“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” That profound quote from Arnold Schwarzenegger was obviously an allegory for either life, work, and building muscle. You build strength and muscle by not just working out till you feel 'the burn', but pushing further than you ever have.
However, this article is not about philosophy, nor is it about motivation: that is what your Spotify play-list is for. Its about the techniques and daily routines to help you build balanced sculpted arms. Below are a couple of highly recommended isolated workouts for dumbbells focusing on each section of the arm individually.
Bicep curls with dumbbells. Not the most exciting bicep workout, but arguably the most important and the most necessary in sculpting your arms.
Do each arm with equal repetitions. It's of course recommended you do not swing your body and you focus on the muscle group; namely the biceps. You can also do this exercise with a barbell, just be sure to use both arms equally to ensure a balanced muscle build.
Even the greatest body builders have admitted to originally neglecting the triceps from time to time, but for a naturally balanced arm the triceps are just as important as other muscles. The recommended tricep workout is called the seated “triceps press”.
This workout works out the isolated triceps. Make sure you focus on breathing and the contraction of the triceps.
An essential isolated shoulder workout called 'Front Dumbbell Raise' can build your shoulders to a massive size if added to your workout.
An important aspect of this workout is to ensure you focus on breathing and contraction of the muscles. This workout isolates the shoulder muscles, so doing this will not wear out your other muscles allowing freedom in future exercises.
There is no such thing as a perfect workout, there is no such thing as a perfect workout, and there is nothing wrong with sticking with the classic work-outs that I laid out above. With hard work and persistence (and a good diet) anyone can build sculpt their body to the ideal size. All you need is a couple dumbbells and 30-60 minutes of time.
