The Difference Between Slowjuicers And Blenders

Drinking fresh juices is one of the simplest ways to provide yourself with enough nutrients and to lead a healthier lifestyle. Such juices have enough vitamins; they are rich in fiber and simply delicious. However, before rushing to a shop looking for a blender, you have to think about what type of juices you prefer – ordinary organic ones or slow ones.

How do blenders and fast juicers work?

These machines are often called centrifugal juicers, because they use a centrifugal force to create juice. They make juices quickly enough, though produce much heat in the process and are quite noisy. They are good for turning hard vegetables and fruits (carrots, apples, radishes and so on) into juice, and require a little preparation. Usually you don’t need to chop fruits and vegetables, because they fit into such machines just the way they are.

However, fast juicers and blenders produce less juice and less fiber than slow ones. They are also not effective enough if you want to add herbs, berries or leafy greens to your juice: it’s hard to make juice from small ingredients while using these machines.

How do slow juicers work?

Slow juicers are also called masticating. They grind and chew all ingredients and then put pressure on them to extract juice. They produce less heat and less noise in the process, extract more juice from the amount of fruits and vegetables, and this juice is richer in fiber too. They chop all ingredients well and so are good if you want to make berry juice, green juice from spinach and other leafy greens, and so on. Slow juices also last longer than ordinary organic: they can be kept in a fridge up to 72 hours without losing their taste and nutrients.

However, they are called slow for a reason: making juice with the help of these machines requires more preparation. You have to chop big fruits and vegetables into pieces, because the machine’s opening for them is quite small. Moreover, it takes more time to extract juice with the help of masticating technology.

Which machine to choose?

Though blenders (along with fast juicers) differ from slow juicers, this doesn’t mean than one machine is definitely better than the other. That all depends on various factors like:
- what fruits and vegetables you like;
- how many time you can spend on making juice;
- do you want to consume your juice right away or store it in a fridge for some time;
- how important the amount of fiber is to you;
- do you want to save money on buying ingredients for juice.

Remember: both organic and slow juices are healthy and tasty. However, if you are a busy person, who cannot afford spending much time on making juice, maybe a blender is a better option for you. And if you are a person, who likes making juice from small fruits, leafy greens and so on, a slow juicer may be a better solution for you.
