Walnuts

Walnuts, the nuts of the walnut tree are actually rounded single seeded stone fruits, so they are not true nuts in the botanical sense. Fully ripened walnuts are often used for their nutmeat and we love them as being a healthful snack or as a tasty and healthy ingredient for baking. The green nuts are sometimes used for foods like pickled walnuts.

Walnuts are very rich in nutrients like protein, minerals and antioxidants and they are an excellent source of valuable omega-3 fatty acids. They are one of the richest food sources for alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).

Most of us love walnuts for their great nutty flavour and their buttery texture. With their high amount of proteins and many other valuable nutrients they make a fantastic healthy snack and a great addition to all kinds of foods like cereals, mueslis, salads, ice cream and many more. For baking, they make a delicious and healthy ingredient for cookies and cakes!
