My name is Laila and I want to share my experience with the 3-day Uzuma juice detox cure. Here is my review.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Laila Luyt, I am 23 years old and work as a jurist at a pharmaceutical organisation. In addition to my main job, I also run my own little web shop as a hobby.
Is it sugar addiction? Lack of perseverance? I’m not sure. But one thing I know is that I can’t resist those chocolate bars at the supermarket. Second one for half the price? Why not take two! You can count on it that it’ll be gone before the end of the day. Or what about that piece of cake at work when it’s a colleague’s birthday? Difficult to resist, right? Luckily I only have 250 colleagues. Well, I am sure you know what I am talking about...
Apart from the fact that I wanted to do something about my mindset when it comes to eating healthy, I believe it’s definitely not a bad idea to detox your body once or twice a year. Get rid of the waste in your body and give your organs some rest? Sounds good to me! Especially with my IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), which is a chronic disease where my bowels act up pretty much any time I eat the “wrong” food. Aside from that, losing some weight and having a good reason to show off my body at the gym are, of course, a nice bonus too.
Well, now you understand my daily struggles. Is it possible to break through this with a detox juice cure? Let’s try it!!
It’s recommended that you adjust your diet one or two days before you start with your detox, so you should eat easily digestible food and less protein. After the detox, it’s also important that you don’t eat solid food right away, but slowly add it to your diet again. I should probably mention that I’m quite a fanatic with working out. I panicked a bit about losing muscle mass, so I cheated a bit. Two days before and one day after the cleanse, I took it easy with difficult-to-digest food. I ate mostly salads, raw vegetables, and fruit, but also got some protein with quark and protein shakes.
Let’s go! I start the first day of the 3-day detox juice cleanse very motivated, but I admit that I was also longing for my chocolate. But who knows, maybe this motivated me even more! I was also a little worried that I might not like the juices. But turns out, juice 1 was delicious, and so were all juices I had that day. I especially liked those juices with a lot of fruit since I have a sweet tooth—just in case this wasn’t obvious by now. I did not think that the juice cleanse was difficult to do at all, but then this was only day 1. Fortunately, I also wasn’t hungry. I admit, I did miss my coffee and my cola zero though. The other thing I noticed was that I was feeling a bit colder than normal. Later in the afternoon, I also got a rather nasty headache. After I had the last juice for the day, I was very tired and went to bed early.
I woke up refreshed and with a lot of energy, and surprisingly wasn’t hungry at all. But I knew this was going to be a busy day, so I was afraid this wouldn’t last for too long. Turns out I worried for nothing! I wasn’t hungry and had a lot of energy all day, even in the evening. I had a little moment where I wanted to eat something, but it wasn’t too bad. I didn’t feel cold and didn’t have a headache. Well, 1 more day to go.
When I woke up today, I also didn’t feel hungry at all. But I did feel a bit more cold than normal. The day flew by, but I was also starting to really look forward to eating some solid food tomorrow. My tummy feels flat and I don’t have a bloated belly like I normally have when I eat some kind of solid food.
I wake up and am glad that I’m allowed to eat again! I run downstairs and make lactose-free quark with some walnuts, together with some zero-calorie lemonade and cacao. It feels really good to eat again and I’m very satisfied. Normally when I eat something, I often want more, but this time I’m more than okay with what I eat.
The next few days I noticed that I didn’t have my usual cravings for sweets. Did I beat my sugar addiction? Maybe not entirely after just 3 days cleansing, but I can say that my sugar cravings are definitely a lot less!
The 3-day detox juice programme wasn’t bad at all! Yes, I am happy it’s over, but the 3 days had been pretty good AND I lost 3 kilos! I am now more motivated to pay attention to what I eat and I also plan to eat smaller portions in the coming weeks. What I’ve noticed is that my body doesn’t need that much food and that I lost only a small amount of muscle mass. This was definitely a big relief for me! This week, I’m going to take my usual amount of protein like I’m used to and I will also go to the gym again. I won’t deny that the cleanse felt a bit rough for a couple of days, but overall, I am very satisfied with the detox. I would definitely do it again!
