Finding the time to complete a workout has always been a considerable deterrent for individuals in search of a healthy body. The desire would be there, but with busy schedules to go around putting aside thirty to forty-five minutes a day to burn calories was easier said than done. Many workout schedules ended up getting scrapped due to a more demanding work schedule and busier social activities. Those excuses have since been removed from the equation thanks to Tabata. It is dubbed as a high-intensity workout plan that reduces the time necessary to about four minutes. Tabata Training is considered as High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and has recently observed an increase in popularity while the process could differ based on who leads the charge. The guidelines are similar in that the participant will complete twenty seconds of an aggressive workout routine. They will rest for ten seconds and repeat the process. In order to complete the task, both workout and rest should be completed in eight rounds. The kind of exercise being carried out will be dealers choice as long as it is aggressive. In fact, the 20-second time-slot can change during each of the eight cycles.
It should be noted that even though Tabata might be new to many participants it has been a choice for several athletes familiar with HIIT. A team of researchers lead by Dr. Izumi Tabata came across the routine during their research in the late 1990s. The study concluded that after a recipe which included 20 seconds of pushing it to the limit followed by 10 seconds of rest (repeated 8 times) the results were astounding. The results of the structured HIIT routine were published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise and went on to be named Tabata.
There are many reasons why participants prefer Tabata from some of the other routines they encountered in the past. The main reason is generally the time reduction and the ease with which they can get through it. Flexibility is another popular reason for switching to Tabata especially when they consider how much easier it is to fit that time into a busy schedule. Slipping four minutes into an eight-hour schedule is much easier than carving in a thirty or 40-minute appointment. Then there is the equipment which can be substituted with simple things like pushups, squats etc.
With Tabata on the increase, many participants are wondering whether it is a good choice for them. Consider the following possible benefits before making the decision. Is fat burning a priority and is there a particular time goal in place to accomplish that? Is the participant having trouble getting to the gym or will it be easier to squeeze in exercise routines in smaller doses? Finally, many exercise routines have been known to damage muscle tissues, whereas HIIT programs like Tabata promise to protect those tissues.
With so many positive reasons to switch to Tabata why wouldn't more participants choose it as their preferred routine? For one thing, the higher demand being placed on the body is not always easy to achieve without placing their health at risk. Age and other health concerns could also deter someone from choosing Tabata and eventually owning it. Some participants have no problem spending time at the gym and may not be anxious to sway from those habits. In the final analysis, it is clear that Tabata is a great choice for positive results, but like everything else, when chosen it must be a consistent process.
