Vitamin E has several pretty important functions within the body. Knowing what these are, and making sure you are getting enough each day is vital if you want to keep your health in top-notch condition.

At some point or another, you have probably heard vitamin E being mentioned, and how great it is for your body. Well, it is. This often overlooked vitamin plays an essential role in maintaining the integrity of your body and mind, protecting it from toxins and degeneration.

Great sources of vitamin E

Vitamin E can be obtained from a number of sources. The most prevalent of which are plant oils, nuts and seeds, wheat, olive oil, and of course Uzuma green juice!

How much do I need a day?

The recommended daily dose of vitamin E is 4mg for men and 3mg for women. However, there is no evidence to suggest there is any danger in going over this amount. Furthermore, vitamin E is fat soluble, so it can be stored in the body for later use – just make sure you are getting enough!

The health benefits of vitamin E

It’s a powerful antioxidant

The main widely known benefit of vitamin E is its ability to protect the body on a cellular level from toxins. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, meaning it removes free-radicals from the body – unstable particles that can damage cells and cause degeneration. This help prevent all sorts of things, from premature aging all the way to cancer and neurological disorders, such as dementia.

It supports the cardiovascular system

Vitamin E lowers cholesterol and helps thin the blood. This reduces blood pressure and the likelihood of stroke, heart attack and other circulatory related problems.

It supports the immune system

Consuming vitamin E has been shown to boost the strength of the immune system.

It keeps skin and hair healthy and strong

Vitamin E nourishes cells, promotes skin cell regeneration and strengthens capillary walls. This allows skin to stay strong, hydrated and healthy. It also speeds up the healing process of cuts, burns and scars.

What happens if you don’t get enough vitamin E?

Without a constant supply of vitamin E, cells have a very hard time keeping it together. It results in neurological problems due to poor nerve function, and causes changes in cell membrane structure. It is not something you want to happen!
